Two township teens apparently playing a game called “Assassin” looked real enough to draw the attention of police Monday morning.
The 18-year-olds also got themselves arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Police said they were called at about 7:25 a.m. by someone who said they saw someone point a gun out of a vehicle window on Amwell Road near Hillsborough High School.
Officers found the vehicle in the school parking lot. Two 18-year-olds, Matthew Giuliano of Flanders Drive and Michael Kersis of Langden Close, were detained and the imitation firearms located just before the school was about to go into “lockdown” mode, police said.
Police said the two were participating in a game often played by high school seniors. The weapons used in the game “often look real and pose an inadvertent safety issue to the individuals playing the game and/or the public, although there is no real intent to cause harm,” said a police statement.
