Obey the Cook!
Princeton High School Students Tackle the Miele Test Kitchen
Princeton, NJ – May 25, 2011 – At the conclusion of a yearlong effort in culinary development, students from the Princeton High School Cooking Club organized a special year end presentation to showcase their expertise. The young aspiring chefs gathered in Miele’s state-of-the-art test kitchens in Princeton on Saturday afternoon (May 21st) to chop, slice, boil, steam and bake their prized recipes using the latest in appliance technology. Eager parents, the club’s VIP dinner guests, enjoyed freshly brewed cappuccino while observing the beehive of activity and awaiting their special meal.
Sam Dercon, a Princeton High School Junior and leader of the after school club, worked alongside his culinary peers to prepare the spring inspired meal. Sam and ten other students have been meeting at different club member homes monthly to try new recipes, experiment with new cooking methods and acquire new culinary skills. Miele, has been involved in a number of efforts connecting kids with healthy food preparation, most notably Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. As the sole outfitter of appliances aboard Jamie Oliver’s new Food Revolution truck, Miele is a proud sponsor of educating a new generation about the necessary skills to create healthy dishes at home.
The students received rave reviews from their parents who dined on freshly prepared spring rolls, salad, pasta and a warm apple tart with home-made whipped cream. Clearly the idea of “obey the cook”, emblazoned on the students shirts, was an easy concept for their parents to fully absorb.
“It was our pleasure to host such a talented group of enthusiastic culinary rising stars,” said Vicki Robb, Event Manager for Miele’s Princeton headquarters. “It truly was a treat for us to help foster their passion for cooking. We invite them back in their senior year to share their latest recipes and enjoy time with their parents.”
