WEST WINDSORPLAINSBORO The Board of Education is seeking interested participants for its Ad Hoc Committee for Building Use, the first of its kind in the district.
The board formed the committee to study, review and recommend a building use structure, including goals and fees, according to Gerri Hutner, district spokeswoman.
The board wishes to gather information about the ways facilities and fields are used and to study a possible way to increase revenue.
The idea was a suggestion of this year’s belt-tightening budget process and public input at the community engagement forums.
”There was a mention of considering ways to increase revenue as a way to (reduce the) increase in property taxes and building use was one suggestion for a revenue stream,” Ms. Hutner said.
Headed by David Aderhold, assistant superintendent for pupil services and planning, the committee will meet during June, July and August and will be charged with reviewing permissions, guidelines and fees.
Some of the specific areas the committee will study includes usage of the pools, non-profit fees, summer use charges and charges for the turf and athletic fields.
The group will report to the board in the fall with its findings.
The information will then undergo a review with the administration and the Facilities Committee.
The board has formed ad committees in the past based upon the need for specific information.
Past committees have studied and reviewed enrollment, referendum issues, field lights and other issues.
Those interested in participating should send an e-mail with name, address and interest to Mr. Aderhold at [email protected].
