This summer, Central Jersey residents are invited to share their hearts and homes with inner city children by volunteering to become host families for the fresh Air Fund.
Children, ranging in age from 6 to 12, stay for one to two weeks with host families and get to enjoy new experiences while enjoying life outside the city. This year the fund has seen a drop in the number of host families in the Somerset County area and there are many children waiting for host families. There are no financial requirements for hosting a family. Volunteers may request the age group and gender of the Fresh Air youngsters they would like to host.
Fresh Air Fund visits are scheduled for July 7 to July 21 and August 9 to 19. There is also a one week trip begining July 7. The Fresh Air Fund coordinates buses to bring the children from New York to New Jersey to make it easier for host families to pick up the children as they begin their visit.
For more information on how to become a host family, contact Jody Berkowitz, SOmerset County chairperson at 908-359-0509 or e-mail [email protected].
