HIGHTSTOWN — Thousands of proud and cheerful Americans gathered to watch the 92nd annual town parade which featured a bright and spirited procession that included the laying of three wreaths in honor of U.S. soldiers.
The Hightstown-East Windsor Memorial Day Parade showcased the patriotism nearly 40 groups.
Former East Windsor Mayor Leonard Millner served as grand marshal for Monday’s parade.
As previously reported in the Herald, Hightstown Councilman Larry Quattrone, one of the key organizers behind the May 30 parade, anticipated that about 10,000 spectators would attend the town’s 92nd annual parade.

The parade will began at Walter C. Black Elementary School and proceeded east on Stockton Street toward the Civil War monument, where participants held the first of three wreath-laying ceremonies and a 21-gun salute.
From there, the parade goers made their way to Hightstown Memorial Library for a second wreath-laying. A third wreath-laying occurred nearby.

There were no reports of anyone using the parade as a platform for political rhetoric. Such was the case last year, when Unidad Latina En Action NJ used a megaphone to protest immigration laws.
