(Princeton, NJ)— Introducing Lipstick and Cigarettes, a musical force rising from the ranks of Jersey’s finest. With a finger on the pop-rock pulse, Lipstick and Cigarettes is driving the 80s-infused-rock movement.
So get ready for a sexy throwback.
Hailing from Princeton, this group of passionate musicians credits personal influences from Bruce Springsteen and Blondie to Metallica and Muse. Despite the wide range of music tastes between the band’s members, when listening to Lipstick and Cigarettes, you can hear a clear 80s influence.
Together since the spring of 2009, Lipstick and Cigarettes is Erik Cabral (drums), Sarah MacMillan (bass), and Chris Orsi (guitar/vocals).
“ The band’s music is a modern take on the 80s new wave, pop rock style,” says Jay Ryan of thesexyarmpit.com. “They have an energized, retro-rock vibe from
the early days of MTV. Their sound is similar to The Fixx and The Knack.”
Lipstick and Cigarettes released their self-titled, self-produced, debut EP in October 2010. Although the trio worked collaboratively on the project, Orsi is credited with writing most of the music.
“I love creating a scene that combines different musical interests and my own weird ideas. The best part is sharing it with other people and seeing their reaction,” Orsi says.
Since releasing their EP, the trio has been playing their way through Central Jersey’s local music scene—The Saint, The Court Tavern, The Crossroads, etc—and has begun branching out into the Big Apple.
The band’s self-titled EP is available on iTunes. To hear their music, and learn more about the band visit lipstickandcigarettes.net or facebook.com/lipstickandcigarettes.
For those who want to catch Lipstick and Cigarettes in action, the band’s next two performances are at the North Star Bar in Philadelphia, P.A. on Tuesday, June 14th and Friday, June 23rd at The Court Tavern in New Brunswick, N.J.
