Monmouth County attorney Angela White Dalton, of Howell, became secretary of the New Jersey State Bar Association last week. Dalton is on track to become president in 2016.
Dalton has said she was pleased to join the ranks of the association’s executives, according to a press release.
She received her B.A. summa cum laude from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, where she was an H.R. Young Scholar and received the Hon. Elvin R. Simmill Scholarship.
She received her law degree from Rutgers University School of Law, Camden, with honors, where she was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for Legal Research and Writing.
Dalton then served as law clerk to Thomas F. Shebell Jr., presiding judge, Appellate Division, Superior Court of New Jersey. She was also a Lyndon B. Johnson Fellowship legislative assistant to Rep. RobertAndrews, 1st District of New Jersey, and she was a legal intern in the Trenton office of the New Jersey attorney general.
Her father encouraged her to pursue the law, a career where she could help others resolve conflicts.
“That vision became my life’s ambition,” said Dalton, who practices in Red Bank.
Dalton has said she hopes to work on projects such as those providing assistance to lawyers struggling in the economy, giving them the skills to handle diverse matters ethically and zealously, and developing more opportunities for members to meet and interact.
These days Dalton does just that. As a partner with Zager Fuchs P.C., she handles probate, guardianship and chancery litigation as well as estate planning and administration.
She has served as chair of the state bar’s Young Lawyers Division and the Women in the Profession Section, and is a co-chair of the Judicial Administration Committee. She is also active with the Monmouth Bar Association and American Bar Association. She is a former member of the Howell Township Council.
