Monday’s Memorial Day parade was beautifully organized. It was gratifying to see how many volunteers are working to keep the people of this area safe.
However, when was flag etiquette forgotten? When the color guards with our national emblem pass by, why are almost all spectators still in their seats? Why are hats still on men’s heads?
Many years ago, when I was growing up, everyone stood at attention when the flag passed by and all men took off their hats. We all put our hands over our hearts.
After witnessing this lack of respect during several parades, it seems it is time to remind the folks to honor the symbol that represents those who gave their lives so that we can have the pleasure of watching these ceremonies.
