The first annual Music and Art Benefit for the NJ Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) will be held June 4 from 7:30-11 p.m. in the Riverside Ballroom at The Inn at Lambertville Station.
Tickets are $25 by advance purchase at Buck’s Espresso and Ice Cream Bar, The Green Living and Building Center, Blue Raccoon, and Walker’s Wine & Spirits in Lambertville; Farley’s Bookshop in New Hope; and Siren Records in Doylestown, or $30 at the door if available. The price includes hors d’oeuvres; cash bar will be available.
The benefit has three goals: To give hope to blood cancer survivors by raising funds that LLS will award to accelerate the most promising research; second, to educate the public about the mission of LLS and services they provide to local blood cancer patients and survivors; and third, to raise awareness about blood cancers, which include leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and myeloma.
There are approximately 958,000 children and adults living with or in remission from blood cancers in this country. Every four minutes someone new is diagnosed with a blood cancer; and sadly, every 10 minutes someone in the United States loses his/her battle with a blood cancer.
Blood cancer survivors from Lambertville and Delaware Township will be among the inspirational speakers to kick-off the LLS benefit.
Musicians, artists, and community businesses are donating their time, talents, and resources to help raise funds for LLS. Musician Jeff Kline of Lambertville will be the special guest of the band The Shackers also of Lambertville (Bill Kershaw, John Flynn, Tim McKenzie, Jason Bonthron, Pat McSherry, Mark Toman, Rob Weisenborn, and Paul Mirowsky).
Opening for the Shackers will be the New York City band Jalopy (Greg Fletcher of Long Island City, NY; Dee Green, Bruce Follmer, Steve Hoffman, Art Honan — all of Manhattan; and Matt Ellison of Summit). Lambertville artists, Gordon Haas and Tony La Salle, have each contributed an original oil painting to the Silent Art Auction. Several local restaurants have donated gift cards to the “Night Out On The Town” Restaurant Raffle, including Rick’s, Anton’s at the Swan, Inn of the Hawke, all of Lambertville; The Stockton Inn of Stockton; The Café at Rosemont of Rosemont; and Marsha Brown’s of New Hope.
Other local businesses sponsored advertising for the event in ICON magazine: J. B. Kline & Son – New and Vintage Musical Instruments, Haas Gallery, La Salle Gallery, Blue Raccoon, The Green Living & Building Center, A Mano Galleries, AMS Design, and Buck’s Espresso and Ice Cream Bar. The graphic design for the event posters and tickets were donated by Lambertville graphic designer Anne Marie Sole of AMS Design. The Inn at Lambertville Station is providing the venue.
Proceeds will help LLS to fulfill its mission.
