New superintendent will start on June 6

Charles Sampson will begin his new job as the superintendent of schools in the Freehold Regional High School District on June 6.

Members of the FRHSD Board of Education approved Sampson’s contract on Feb. 15. He is coming to the FRHSD from the Verona Township Schools, where he is currently the superintendent.

FRHSD acting Superintendent Suzanne Koegler announced Sampson’s start date during the board’s May 23 meeting.

Sampson’s initial contract will run through June 2015.

Koegler mentioned Sampson’s start date while she was answering a question from a member of the public about the position of public information officer.

James Quirk, who had been the public information officer, has left that position.

Aresident asked if the public information officer’s position will be filled or eliminated.

Koegler said a decision regarding that position will be up to Sampson.

The FRHSD enrolls about 11,800 students from eight sending municipalities — Colts Neck, Englishtown, Farmingdale, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Howell, Manalapan and Marlboro.

The district operates high schools in Colts Neck, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Howell, Manalapan and Marlboro.
