WEST WINDSOR Drivers can expect minor delays and an uneven road surface for the duration of resurfacing work on Penn Lyle Road.
Work for phase 1 of the project began on Tuesday and will take about 12 weeks to complete. Arawak Paving Group will begin with concrete repair and installation work for curbing and sidewalk and then repair and resurface the pavement on the south end of Penn Lyle, between Village Road West and Stony Brook Way. The project will provide two 6-foot-wide bike lanes and two 12-foot-wide travel lanes, as well as public sidewalk along the east side of the road.
There will be partial lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. Police ask that drivers obey all posted signage.
The project is being funded through the township capital improvement budget and a $200,000 grant from the state Department of Transportation.
Phase 2 of Penn Lyle Road improvements may begin in the fall or early next spring.
