HILLSBOROUGH: Library offers computer courses

Movies also on the bill in next few weeks

   Computer courses will be taught at the Hillsborough Public Library this month.
   A two-part Introduction to Google Search and Google Accounts is scheduled. Part 1 is at noon Tuesday, June 21. Part 2 will at noon Tuesday, June 28.
   Hands-on sessions introducing Microsoft Word’s basic features will be held Thursdays, June 23 and 30, at 1 p.m.
   In both courses, seating is limited, so registration is required.
   Movies will be featured, too, in coming weeks.
   On Tuesday, June 21, at 7 p.m. ‘Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman are unforgettable in the prison/escape classic “Papillon.” The movie depicts the brutality, deprivation and perversion of life in the penal colonies of French Guyana. See two great actors wrestle a nasty 10-foot alligator in a dirty mud hole…and in Blu-Ray.
   ”Little Fockers” will be shown on Tuesday, June 21, at 1:30 p.m.
   ”True Grit,” starring Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin and Matt Damon, will be shown Friday, June 24 at 7 p.m.
   You can travel the world in film Saturday, June 25, at 2 p.m. with Rick Busciglio, who has years of experience in the entertainment industry.

   • Ladies ESL — Meets Mondays, June 20, at 7 p.m. Must know minimal English. Ladies 18 and older only.
   • Friends Book Group — Meets Tuesday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m
   Here are programs intended for youngsters. Registration is required:
   • Away We Go (ages 1-4) — Join us for our preschool summer reading club kickoff party. Monday, June 20, at 10 a.m.
   • Decorate a T-shirt (grades K-5) — Bring a T-shirt and the library will provide stencils and fabric markers. Cotton/polyester blends work best. Thursday, June 23, at 3 p.m.
   • Gizmo Guys (ages five and older) — Get your summer reading off to a great start and stop by and watch the Gizmo Guys! They have won international juggling competitions and their rapid-fire act inspires laughter in kids and adults. Tuesday, June 28 at 7 p.m.
   • Anime Club (grades 8-12) — Hang out with friends as we watch anime, make candy sushi and discuss the latest manga. Thursday, June 30, at 5 p.m.
    • First Look Books Drop-In Event (grades 6-12) — Want a free book? Stop by the Teen Center and get a sneak peek at new teen titles before they hit the shelves.
