Kim Bruno
advisor to YAC
Hopewell Township
While Mondays used to be dull days for most of us, Phil Volpe has turned them into a new “community-minded” day with his Cream King Mondays. During these special days, a percentage of the sales at Cream King will go toward a designated community nonprofit. The Hopewell Valley Youth Activity Center (teen center) was the lucky recipient last Monday. What a great way to not only help nonprofits in the Valley, but also bring our community together in a fun and spirited way (with ice cream).
In addition to sharing ice cream, the YAC was also able to unveil some of its summer classes this past Monday. One of the objectives of the YAC is to offer low-cost classes to teens so they can explore their interests and learn new skills. The YAC will begin offering four-week classes in photography, robotics, graphic design and writing. Jenn Steel, the teen center coordinator — along with Hopewell Valley graduate, Kevin Kley — is in the process of organizing classes for July.
If you missed the opportunity last Monday to learn about these classes, please contact Jenn Steel for more information or for a registration form. You can reach her at [email protected] or 737-3048. I look forward to next Monday and my chance to enjoy some more ice cream.
