Fredo’s Italian Restaurant is celebrating its debut as it breathes new life into the former Ferrari’s restaurant. Located in A&MPlaza, 3475 Route 9 north. (corner of Three Brooks Road), Freehold Township, Fredo’s is still owned by Freehold residents Mary and Louie Thompson, who have updated the 3,000-square-foot facility to reflect a more casual, family friendly atmosphere with a gangster theme.

Funky gangster artwork complements the walls with movies and TV shows being shown on monitors in the restaurant. The Thompsons feel that with pizzeria prices and a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, they offer something for everybody.

Thompson, dubbed “The Brooklyn Bagel King,” has been in the food business for 32 years. His product was named “Best Bagel in New York” by the Daily News, New York Post and The New York Times. The Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce will present “The Big Picture for Small Businesses” as part of its “Summer School for Small Businesses” program. Small business owners seeking a new perspective, new strategies, ideas and systems are invited to attend.

“The Big Picture for Small Businesses” will include the following four sessions to be held from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce offices in the Pinho Professional Center, 57 Schanck Road, Freehold Township:

 July 13 – “Five Tips and Three Insights to Run a Successful Small Business” will be presented by Claude Blanc, president of CHB Associates.

 July 27 – “It Is ALL About Them – Marketing for Small Business” will be presented by Bill Atkins, president of Red Bank Limo.

 Aug. 10 – “How to Effectively Lead Your Workforce in a Small Business Environment” will be presented by Tmima Grinvald, president of The Round Well.

 Aug. 24 – “Effective Sales Techniques for Small Business” will be presented by Bob Fleischman, general manager, BMW of Freehold.

Supercuts, a concept of Regis Corporation, recently opened a new salon in the Colonial Plaza, 337 W. Main St. (Route 537), Freehold Township. Supercuts offers fashionable looks at affordable prices, with stylists certified in the latest hairstyles and color techniques.

“It’s always fun to bring a brand that people know and trust to a new location,” said area supervisor Jennifer Cottrell. “The Freehold community has been very welcoming since we opened on May 10, and we have really enjoyed getting to know our new clients.”

Salon services include haircuts at $15.95, as well as other styling, coloring and waxing options. Lomurro, Davison, Eastman and Munoz, a law firm with offices in Freehold Township and Toms River, has announced that James A. Paone II of Old Bridge has been installed as president of the Monmouth Bar Association. Paone concentrates his practice in the areas of complex civil litigation including commercial, corporate and construction litigation. He has been designated by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a certified civil trial attorney. Paone is president of the board of trustees of Autism of New Jersey and is also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute.

On June 9, Arlene Putterman, manager of public and community relations with Stop & Shop supermarkets, presented the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties with a check in the amount of $34,205.10. The funds were collected in support of Stop & Shop’s “Food for Friends” program.

“Our food bank partners are critical in supporting the communities we serve and providing relief to those in need is of utmost priority to us. We look forward to continuing a strong relationship with the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and making a difference in the community,” Putterman said.

Stop & Shop has recently expanded its presence in Monmouth and Ocean counties, specifically in Point Pleasant Beach, Neptune City, Long Branch, Freehold Township and Manalapan. These five supermarkets were previously owned by Norkus Enterprises Inc.
