This year’s Summer Reading Program, “One World, Many Stories,” is an opportunity for Chesterfield Township Elementary School students to maintain and develop their reading skills throughout the summer. All children are welcome to participate in this program. They encourage young readers to participate, too, as studies show children who are read to become better readers. Children will borrow and read library books from the Crosswicks Public Library. After they have read a book or books, they can orally report on what they have read to one of the volunteer listeners. The volunteers will keep track of the child’s progress by documenting the books read in a journal and on a graph chart at the library. At the completion of the program the children attend a small social held at the library to celebrate their great reading accomplishments. Reporting begins the week of June 27. Reporting times are Monday from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please visit www.bcls.lib.nj.us for library hours and information or call 298-6271.
