HILLSBOROUGH: Resident’s car eyed as possible getaway car

A Virginia man has been charged with robbery in an unsuccessful purse-snatching Friday in Bridgewater.
Police say that George D. Bryan, 45, of Winchester, Va., came up to a woman leaving the Bank of America branch in the Somerset Shopping Center. As she prepared to enter her vehicle, Mr. Bryan ran up to her and allegedly forcibly removed her purse from her arm.
She chased Mr. Bryan, and he threw the purse onto the ground and got into a Jeep Cherokee registered to a Hillsborough Township resident, police said.
Hillsborough police later located the vehicle driven by Mr. Bryan, according to Somerset Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano.
The accused was taken to Somerset County Jail with cash-only bail set by Superior Court Judge Angela Borkowski at $100,000.
