Metuchen library offers programs for teens

The Young Adult department of the Metuchen Public Library will offer the following free programs to all residents who will be entering sixth through 12th grade in September.

 Babysitter Safety Training and Certification class, 1-4 p.m. June 29

 Stitches: It’s as Easy as 1, 2, 3Afternoons! 1-2 p.m. July 5, 6 and 12. Learn to crochet, to follow a pattern and to make a simple project.

 Theater Games, 7-8:45 p.m. July 12

 Cupcake Decorating 101, July 13 10:30 a.m. to noon, or 2-3:30 p.m.

 Write Your Own Adventure, a three-session fiction-writing workshop, 7-8:30 p.m. July 14, 21 and 28

 Songwriting Workshop, 2-4 p.m. July 19. The group will write, rehearse and record an original song with a songwriter.

 The Midas Touch, 7-8:30 p.m. July 26. Explore the medieval art of illuminations that uses gold to embellish letters, words and illustrations.

 Robotics Workshop, 1-3:30 p.m. July 28

 Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meeting, 7:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 3. Try out a meeting to see if you’d like to join the group that plans Young Adult programs, selects media for the library, and publicizes YA events. Visit www.metuchenlibraryteens.org to learn more about the TAB.

 Pasta and Pesto, 1-2:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Learn how to make homemade pasta and pesto sauce (nut-free).
