A s part of its “Historically Speaking” lecture series, the Monmouth County Historical Association will welcome Joseph G. Bilby to speak on June 26 at 2 p.m. The lecture will be held at the association’s headquarters, 70 Court St., Freehold.
Bilby will speak about his recent publication, “Monmouth Court House: The Battle that Made the American Army,” which he co-wrote with his daughter, Katherine Bilby Jenkins.
Bilby received his MA in History from Seton Hall University and is currently the assistant curator of the New Jersey National Guard and Militia Museum in Sea Girt, and a freelance writer and historical consultant.
He has published numerous articles and books about New Jersey history, military history and outdoor subjects. His book takes a newlook at the Battle of Monmouth, setting it within the context of the revolutionary struggle in New Jersey and Monmouth County, as well as discussing its legacy and how it was viewed in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Copies of the book will be available for sale after the presentation.
