John “Jack” Strevens Sr.

Mr. Strevens, 82, of Toms River, formerly of Howell, died May 31, 2011. He was born and raised in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom, and served in the British airborne as a paratrooper for 11 years. He moved to New Jersey in 1962. Prior to retiring in 1997, he was a union carpenter working out of the Ocean County hall for 35 years. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Ena Strevens. Surviving are two sons, John and his wife, Heather, and David and his wife, Kate; three daughters, Karen Thomas and her husband, Robert, Pamela Golden and her fiancé, Mark Tilsner, and Brenda Strevens and her boyfriend, Jerry Scardaville; and 13 grandchildren. Afuneral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
