Trenton, N.J. – Mercer County Community College’s James Kerney Campus (JKC), located at 102 North Broad Street in downtown Trenton, invites the community to an Open House on Tuesday, July 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. in Kerney Hall. Prospective students of all ages and stages of learning are invited to come and learn about all of the programs and services that JKC has to offer.
MCCC’s James Kerney Campus is a hub for learning in downtown Trenton where both both credit and noncredit programs are offered. Mercer’s credit offerings include 70 associate degree programs and 30 credit certificates designed either for direct career entry or transfer to a baccalaureate college. College level students often take classes at both campuses, and utilize transportation provided by a shuttle bus. Credit classes are offered at a variety of convenient hours, including during the lunch hour to accommodate those who work in downtown Trenton.
The Career Training Institute (CTI) offers 30-week noncredit programs in Office Automation and Culinary Arts. Both programs are designed for direct entry into the workforce. JKC also offers programs in Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development (GED) Preparation, and English-as-a-Second Language (ESL). Pre-college youth are served through Youth College programs designed to equip young adults with life skills and supplemental academic instruction needed to prepare them for post-secondary institutions. Youth College programs include Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound, SMILE/GEAR-UP and the Urban Academic Academy.
Additionally, the James Kerney Campus offers easy access to support services. The Dr. Beverly A. Richardson Learning Center provides state-of-the-art computers for student use, as well as, academic testing, advisement offices, media services, traditional and “SMART” classrooms, and a classroom with interactive technology that enables professors to teach students at both campuses simultaneously.
