Recently I attended my daughter’s Salk Middle School eighth-grade commencement ceremonies, and I couldn’t help being proud of her and her achievements but also being just as proud of the work her principal, David Cittadino, and his family of teachers and administrators have done to get my daughter and the other 299 eighth-graders prepared to enter high school.
Today we spend much too much time celebrating sports teams, rock stars and actors, and the true “American Idols” we should be celebrating are people like Mr. Cittadino and his teachers. The Salk school motto is “Salk Strong,” and I must truly say that each of the graduates lives up to that motto.
If I could, I would give the entire Salk family a gold ticket to Hollywood.
My sincere thanks to the Salk family for being true “American Idols” to our children.
