RED BANK — The Salvation Army, 180 Newman Springs Road, will host the 11th annual BBQ & Trombone Night on Wednesday, July 13, at 7 p.m.
According to a press release from the Red Bank unit, each year some of the finest trombone players in the New York metropolitan area and beyond have come to Trombone Night to play classics, swing, gospel and music that can only be played on “God’s instrument.”
This year is anticipated to be one of the best programs to date, with some of the finest trombonists already committing to the date coming from the N.J. Symphony, the Salvation Army’s Premier New York Staff Band, the Montclair Citadel Brass Band and other outstanding musicians from New York City, Spring Valley, N.Y., Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., as well as local players.
Those who want to make it a night with wonderful fixins’ from the grill are invited to come out and join the players at 6 p.m. for a barbecue before the concert. A freewill offering will be collected to support the Salvation Army’s World Services following the program.
