Summer events at Mid’twn Senior Center

The Middletown Senior Center plans a variety of special events, trips and weekly activities every month. Summer events include:

 Ice cream social, 1 p.m. June 30 — Sing along with Mary Finnerty and enjoy an ice cream sundae. Cost is $3.

 Annual summer picnic, 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. July 15,— Tickets are $4 for a hot dog picnic lunch and two hours of music and dancing with Jerry Castaldo. Register by July 8.

 Salute to Summer, July 21 — Celebrate July birthdays and join in the fun. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided.

 Spirit Cruise, July 29— Cruise departs from Weehawken. Tickets are $70 and include a narrated tour of N.Y. harbor, buffet lunch, entertainment, tax, tip and gratuities. Independent non- residents age 60 and over are welcome to sign up.

 Rummikub tournament, 12:30 p.m Aug. 4 — Sign up by Aug. 2 for this popular activity. Prizes provided to winners.

 Carnival Game Day, 1 pm. Aug. 9, 1 p.m. — Play some carnival games just for fun and have an ice cream. Free, but sign up by Aug. 5.

 Disaster preparedness, 1 p.m. Aug. 11— Middletown Emergency Management Coordinator Charles Rogers will provide current information on disaster preparedness and how to sign up with the Special Needs Registry for residents who may need assistance evacuating during an emergency.

 Atlantic City Trip, Aug. 12. — Tickets are $20 and include a $30 voucher for Showboat Casino. Tickets are $25 for independent non-residents age 60 and over.

 Pink Flamingo Birthday Party, Aug. 18 — Break out your favorite pink attire and celebrate August birthdays. Prize provided to the person who wears the most pink shirts, shorts, socks, etc. Hawaiian music provided by Entertainers Plus and tropical refreshments served.

 So Long to Summer Picnic, 1 p.m. Aug. 26 — Sign up by Aug. 19 for the picnic. Tickets are $4 for a box lunch with choice of sandwich. Entertainment provided by the Music Makers, John & Isabella.

Middletown’s Senior Center welcomes Middletown residents 60 and older to become members. The center is located at Croydon Hall, 900 Leonardville Road, in the Leonardo section of the township. Events are held in the East Wing unless otherwise noted.

Transportation is available to registered members by reservation. The center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 732-615-2265 for more information.
