LAWRENCE: Township liquor store robbed at gunpoint

   Township police are searching for three men who robbed Larry’s Wine and Spirits on Brunswick Avenue at gunpoint on Monday night.
   Police Lt. Charles B. Edgar said the robbers escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and several bottles of liquor and wine at about 9:45 p.m.
   One of the three employees in the store was injured when he was struck in the head with a bottle, said Lt. Edgar.
   One employee told police he was working behind the counter when one of the men approached him from the rear and pointed a handgun at him, said Lt. Edgar. He took the money that the employee was holding.
   Two other robbers entered the store. One approached another employee and demanded cash from him, said Lt. Edgar. The employee gave him the cash. One of the robbers also took several bottles of liquor and wine.
   During the robbery, Lt. Edgar said, the gunman fired a round toward a third employee, but the bullet did not strike him. That employee was injured when one of the robbers hit him in the head with a bottle.
   Police responded to the scene and brought along the Lawrence Township Police Department’s K-9 unit. Police, including officers from the Trenton and Ewing departments, searched the area but could not find the suspects, said Lt. Edgar.
   The gunman was described as a black male, about 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall, about 20 to 30 years old. He was wearing a blue sweatshirt, jeans and gloves.
   The second suspect also was a black male, about 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall, and about 20 to 40 years old. He was wearing a baseball cap, black shirt and jeans.
   The third suspect was described as a black male, about 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet, 2 inches tall. He was wearing a baseball cap, a black shirt, jeans and a red bandana.
