MANVILLE: Police blotter for week of June 30

    Police ordered a 2011 Yamaha Grizzly 350 ATV towed at 4:44 p.m. June 26 after it was being ridden in the road on Valerie Drive. Patrolman Michael Peterson issued several summonses to ATV operators.

    Dana Camacho of Lincoln Avenue reported a rock thrown at the Cooper Street side of the house at about 11:30 p.m. June 25. Officer John Granahan said a rock had hit a 2×2 frame. Estimated damage was $250.

    A woman came to headquarters at 11:47 a.m. June 24 and said that on the previous day at about 5:30 p.m. her wallet was taken from her purse while she shopped at Wal-
Mart. Credit cards and personal ID and $40 cash were gone. Accounts were notified and investigation continues.

    A Whalen Street caller at 7:24 a.m. June 24 said the bumper of his Pontiac GTO was taken. Estimated cost of bumper was $1,500. The remaining license plate was to be turned in to the Motor Vehicle Commission and the bumper theft entered in national crime computer.

    Alerted by a caller, police called the fire company to respond to put out a fire in a portable toilet at the Lincoln Avenue soccer field at about 11:30 p.m. June 23.

    Jacek Gusziewicz of Boesel Avenue stopped Patrolman Richard Canuso at 4:25 p.m. June 23 to report criminal mischief _ a garage door being kicked, causing damage.

    Patrolman Ryan Steier arrested Radoslaw Banach of Ridgewood, N.Y., for trespassing on North Main Street at 11:49 p.m. June 23. Mr. Banach was processed and released with a summons.

    A two-car accident was reported on corner of South Main and Kennedy Boulevard in front of Gene’s Car Care at about 1:30 p.m. June 22.

    A caller reported a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash in a parking lot on Brooks Boulevard at 10:09 p.m. June 21. The striking vehicle was said to head south on South Main Street. Patrols respond. Officers James Paterno and Sebastian Szelag responded.

    Josefina Ambrose of Somerset was stopped for a motor vehicle stop on West Camplain Road at 4:38 p.m. on June 20 and arrested for two traffic warrants from Highland Park. She was release on $178 cash bail.

    A Maryland truck driver was given five motor vehicle summonses June 17 after resident Robert Dinsmore of 15th Avenue reported his 2009 blue Chevrolet had been hit in the rear side quarter-panel by an unknown vehicle between 3 and 4 p.m.
    Patrolman William Sampson investigated and saw a box truck parked across the street with “paint transfer,” said police. The driver, Timothy Ross, said he was unaware he had hit another vehicle, apparently when backing up, but was given summonses, including hit-and run, police said.

    A caller at 2:36 p.m. June 19 reported several baby ducks stuck in a storm drain. Only coincidentally, police said, six hours later Tim Sherwood of 11th Avenue reported baby ducks under his car. In both instances, animal control officers were notified.

    Two mountain bicycles were reported stolen sometime between 6 and 10 p.m. on June 19 from a home on No. 6th Avenue. One was a girl’s blue-and-white 18-inch bike valued at $400; the other was a red, white and blue 19-inch model estimated to be worth $450. Investigation continues, police said.

    Sarah Ehrman of West Camplain Road flagged down Officer Nickolas Franzoso at 7 p.m. on June 15 to tell him that a necklace, valued at $766, had been taken from her home sometime in the last month. The investigation is continuing, police said.

    A suspicious visit to her mother’s home was reported to police on June 15. Cynthia Petro said a man and woman had come to her mother’s residence on South 7th Avenue the day before and told her they were from a bank and needed to take pictures of her house. The woman said she had called the bank and representatives there said they had not sent anyone. Police told Ms. Petro to call if the duo returned.

    Three reports of noises that sounded like shots were deemed to be fireworks, police said.Police took calls in the quarter-hour before 1 a.m. June 14, police took calls from people who lived near the public library, on No. 13th Street near Duke’s Parkway and on 7th Avenue. Police responded but found no one.
