EDISON — A former president of the North Edison Little League was charged June 23 with stealing more than $35,000 from the organization over a period of more than three years.
Terry Taylor, 55, of Edison, was charged with theft, a third-degree offense, following an investigation, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan said.
Taylor, who served as an official of the Little League and held various titles, including vice president and president, was released on his own recognizance. No court dates have been set.
He was charged after Investigator Donald Heck of the Middlesex County Prose- cutor’s Office determined that Taylor, while acting in his official capacity, obtained funds in various amounts from the Little League’s account between January 2008 and April 2011, according to the prosecutor’s office.
The investigation began after an audit showed discrepancies in the league’s account and a league official contacted the prosecutor’s office.
