PRINCETON: Activity at former Lahiere’s site

Work is being done in the restaurant portion of the former Lahiere’s building.
”We’ve got some work that is going on and there will be some work going on throughout the summer,” said Jeffrey M. Siegel, president of ML7, the real estate firm that bought the building last year.
From the windows, one can see debris and items have been removed and the space stands almost totally empty.
Mr. Siegel could not comment on a definitive tenant.
”I can tell you we’re excited about the response that we’ve had from prospective tenants and we look forward to making some exciting announcements in the near future.”
A building permit, dated June 16, on the front door reads “demo for architectural exploration.”
A large Dumpster on Witherspoon Street was scheduled to be there until today, according to borough engineering department.
The existing liquor license is in the process of being transferred to ML7, said Mr. Siegel. The license was purchased as a part of the sale of the property, he said.
Tenants are still living in the apartments upstairs, said Mr. Siegel.
The owners applied for the Dumpster for interior renovations, said Shawn Burns, a borough engineer.
”He’s still hoping to rent it out as a restaurant, as I hear,” he said.
