By Charles W. Kim, Managing Editor
Police still are seeking a man who robbed the 7-Eleven convenience store on Beekman Road and Route 27 last week.
Police spokesman Sgt. James Ryan said Monday that police were following leads in the case and hope to identify the man, caught on the store’s video surveillance system.
The incident took place last week when an African-American male, described by police as between 5 feet and 6 feet tall with a slim build and wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans entered the store at 4:15 a.m. June 22, according to police.
The man then allegedly displayed a knife and ordered the store clerk to open the cash register and give him the money.
The man then took the money and fled the store, crossing Route 27 into Franklin Township, according to police.
Police released a photo of the incident taken from the store’s video system and are asking anyone with information to call Detective Jeff Russo at 732-329-4646.
Callers who wish to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stoppers at 800-939-9600.
Participants in the Crime Stoppers program could receive a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest or indictment in the case, according to police.
