‘Clyde’ to greet fans at Sam’s

 Walt Frazier Walt Frazier Sam’s Club and General Mills have announced that they will host a member appreciation event at the Freehold Township Sam’s Club on July 15 from 6-8 p.m. NewYork Knicks legend Walt “Clyde” Frazier will meet with fans and sign autographs.

The Freehold Sam’s Club is at 320W. Main St. (Route 537), Freehold Township.

“We encourage fans to join us for a fun and exciting day,” said Isaac Kask, Sam’s Club manager for this location. “This event is simply our way of thanking the community for their continued patronage of our store. We are excited and look forward to seeing all the smiling faces of Freehold and surrounding communities as we welcome NBA Hall of Famer Walt Frazier to our community.”

Sam’s Club members and guests are welcome and encouraged to visit the Freehold Township store location at any time throughout the day.

According to nba.com, Frazier played for the Knicks from 1967-77, following a collegiate career at Southern Illinois University. He left holding team records for points scored, games played and assists. Frazier later spent portions of three seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, ending his career in 1979 with a lifetime average of 18.9 points per game in 825 regular season games and 20.7 points per game in 93 playoff contests.

As a Knicks player, Frazier scored 19.3 points per game, played in seven NBA All-Star Games, and was named to four All-NBA First Teams and seven NBAAll-Defensive First Teams.

Frazier, a smooth guard, is especially remembered for his inspirational performance in the seventh and deciding game of the 1970 NBAFinals against the Los Angeles Lakers. He helped lead the Knicks to NBA championships in 1970 and 1973.

In 1979 the Knicks retired Frazier’s No. 10 jersey and raised it to the roof of Madison Square Garden. In 1987 he was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and in 1996 he was elected to the NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team.

Frazier has remained in the public eye as the colorful color analyst on Knicks games on the MSG Network.
