The resolution awarding the contract to S. Batata Construction states that “it is specifically found and determined that the successful bidder has complied with all terms and conditions of the bid specifications, without exception.”
The township engineer’s estimate for the base bid work was $817,490. The low base bid of $530,070 submitted by S. Batata Construction was $287,420 under the engineer’s estimate.
In other action at the June 15 meeting, the committee voted 4-0 to approve the renewal of liquor licenses for 2011-12.
Mayor Andrew Lucas, Deputy Mayor Ryan Green, Committeewoman Michelle Roth and Committeeman Don Holland voted to approve the liquor licenses.
Committeeman Jordan Maskowitz recused himself from the vote because he is a member of the Yorktowne Club and the club holds one of the liquor licenses that was up for renewal.
The following liquor licenses were renewed: Molly Pitcher Post 434 American Legion; the Yorktowne Club Inc. (t/a the Yorktowne Club; Knob Hill Bowling LLC (t/a Country Lanes); Battleground Country Club LLC (t/a Battleground Country Club); Apple Food Service of Manalapan LLC (Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill).
Also, Wei Hsin Corporation (t/a Hunan Gourmet); K&L Brothers Inc. (t/a Peking Pavilion Restaurant); Yuse BT Enterprises Inc. (t/a Twilight Bar and Lounge); Mainbrook Tavern Inc. (t/a Mainbrook Tavern); Knob Hill Golf Course Inc. (t/a Knob Hill Golf Club); Roma and Richa Inc. (t/a Spirits Unlimited); Vive Naini LLC (t/a Vingo Wine and Spirits); and JWG Fine Wines and Spirits Inc. (t/a JWG Fine Wines and Spirits).
And, the committee voted to place liens against three properties where the grass was growing dangerously high and creating a nuisance for the neighbors. The code enforcement officer was unable to get a responsible party to cut the grass, so the township administrator directed the Department of Public Works to cut the grass. The liens were placed against 160 Taylors Mills Road ($127.40), 22 Kingsley Drive ($61.20) and 55 Knox Lane ($195.45).
