Mr. Gonzalez, 81, of Freehold Township, died June 22, 2011, at home. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Baruch College, City University of New York. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Cold War Recognition Certificate. Mr. Gonzalez was comptroller of Fomento of Puerto Rico, northeast regional director of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and retired from Manhattan Community College, where he was conferred with the title of professor emeritus. Surviving are his wife, Lydia B. Gonzalez; a daughter, Elena LaTerra; two sons, David and Michael Gonzalez; and nine grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Township, followed by entombment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro Township.
