Kind Heart Rescue is seeking good homes for rabbits

Now that Easter has come and gone and the “newness” of that cute little Easter bunny given to a child as a gift has passed, the calls have started coming in from owners and shelters about rabbits in need of a place to go to save their lives.

Kind Heart Rescue is bursting at the seams with rabbits looking for their forever homes. There are always more rabbits looking for homes than people who want to adopt. There are three ways to help these bunnies — adopt, foster and/or donate.

If you have the space, please adopt. Two bunnies are not much more trouble than one, and bunnies do like the company of their own kind, especially with families that work all day. We have tons of bunnies looking for that second chance at life. Kind Heart Rescue spays and neuters all bunnies for adoption, and each owner gets a cage, litter box, bowls and starter supplies of hay, litter and pellets.

Our adoption fee is $75, but mention this letter to the editor and we will drop the adoption price to $50. If you don’t think that is a bargain, call your veterinarian and see what it costs just for the spay/neuter.

And for those who do not want a long-term commitment, how about providing a foster home?

Fostering a bunny opens up space at Kind Heart so we can take new bunnies in that may be in danger of being put to sleep. Our foster bunnies have been vetted and come with all supplies. You just add love!

If you cannot adopt or foster, please consider making a donation. Kind Heart is a no-kill shelter, and all animals in our care have a place with us until they find their forever home.

Kind Heart Rescue receives no county, state, or federal funds, so keeping us afloat depends entirely on your donations. We are a nonprofit rescue, so all donations are tax-deductible.

If you are interested in hearing more about adoptions, fostering or donating, please drop us an email at [email protected]. We would be glad to explain how everything works.
