Fireworks were canceled for a second time last Friday, and this time they have been postponed to the fall, probably Labor Day weekend.
”The fireworks will be rescheduled for a later date, and as we receive information we’ll pass that along to everybody,” Mayor Gloria McCauley said at Tuesday’s Township Committee meeting.
In addition to threatening weather, the grounds at Auten Road Intermediate School were deemed to be too wet to allow setup and heavy traffic for the weekend.
Rain canceled the original show on Sunday, July 3.
Budget constraints forced the township to cancel the fireworks in 2010. Assemblyman Peter Biondi, a former Hillsborough mayor, was asked to take charge of finding private sponsorships to revive the tradition. He did with money from his own pocket and a sponsorship by TD Bank.
