The nonprofit Edison Memorial Tower Corp. (EMTC) invites children to spend a morning at the Edison Memorial Tower this summer to learn about Thomas Alva Edison and the tower and participate in a related craft project (from a safe distance away from the ongoing restoration work). This restoration work is the first in the tower’s 73-year history.
Sessions will be held:
For ages 5-8: July 26 or Aug. 2 (choose one), 10-noon,
$15 per child (rain dates Aug. 9 or Aug. 16)
For ages 9-12: July 27 orAug. 3 (choose one), 10-noon, $20 per child (rain dates Aug. 10 or Aug. 17)
Preregistration is required.
The programs will include age-appropriate lessons and hands-on activities for children. Children must be accompanied by an adult who will stay åduring the session; adults can enjoy a cup of coffee while also learning about Thomas Edison’s historic Menlo Park laboratory site.
Future opportunities for adults to learn about the tower restoration process will include brown-bag lunches every Friday in August and a September “Tuesdays at the Tower” evening lecture series.
For more information or for the children’s registration form, see www.menloparkmuseum.org or call 732-494-4194.
