The South Brunswick Senior Center has teamed up with eco-wise business Terra Cycle to collect waste materials that are not normally taken by local recycling. Terra Cycle then donates to the Senior Center 2 cents for each wrapper and 25 cents per inkjet cartridge sent in (they even pay the postage). The company “upcycles” the goods into unique, eco-friendly products such as tote bags, purses, backpacks, shower curtains and more. All you have to do is collect any of the items listed and bring them to the Senior Center office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Make sure items are clean.
The center is collecting the following items:
All Mars candy wrappers (examples: Snickers, M&M, Twix, Skittles, Starburst, etc.);
All Nabisco and Keebler cookie wrappers (examples: Oreo, Chips Ahoy, etc.), including the plastic tray inside;
All brands of inkjet printer cartridges;
All types of Kraft cheese products, including Polly-O, Velveeta and Breakstone, wrappers and containers, (examples: Kraft Singles, string cheese, shredded cheese, parmesan cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, etc.);
Scott brand wrappers for toilet paper, paper towels and napkins (just no single rolls of toilet paper).
