Resource Center hosts public law workshops

A s part of its community outreach initiative, the Superior Court of New Jersey, Monmouth Vicinage, Self-Help Resource Center will hold a series of workshops about court-related topics.

These seminars are conducted in conjunction with Ocean-Monmouth Legal Services and held at the courthouse of the Monmouth Vicinage, 71 Monument Park, Freehold. Sessions are free and open to the public. Note that they are informational only, so individual cases cannot be discussed or resolved. Space is limited, and reservations are necessary. The divorce seminars (Oct. 6 and Dec. 8 from10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in jury room L-2) provide information about how to file for a divorce, which forms and documents must be submitted, what happens at the court hearing, and what self-represented individuals can expect. The support and custody seminars (Aug. 11 and Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in jury room L-2) provide information about the filing process, court appearance, enforcement and modification orders, custody and parenting time, child support guidelines and alimony, and the emancipation of children.

The expungement seminars (Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in jury room L-2) will provide information about the types of records that can be expunged, how to file for an expungement, what happens at the hearing, and what to expect when representing oneself in court.

The family post-judgment pro se motion workshops (Aug. 4 and Aug. 25 from 3 to 4 p.m. in Self-Help Center room L-45) will provide information about post-judgment filing procedures using the court’s motion packet.
