CENTRAL JERSEY: It will be a night for the community

Tuesday’s Community Night Out will bring a change of pace to the Community Park Pool, where Princeton residents will be able to swim for free, explore local emergency services vehicles and collect information and giveaways.
The event will occur from 5 to 8 p.m. and is sponsored by the Princeton Township Police PBA 387 and the Princeton Recreation Department. It is a spin-off of National Night Out, which promotes community relations and safety.
”We expect about 2,500 plus (attendees) because that’s what we had last year,” said Vikki Caines of the Recreation Department. “We have 21 organizations that signed up to give free giveaways.”
Highlights will include free admission to the pool, free hot dogs and slushies, a 22-foot inflatable slide, a Spongebob Squarepants moon bounce, a police officer dunk tank, and opportunities to see fire, police and first aid vehicles.
The skin care company Origins will give free two-minute facials and a Girl Scout troop will talk about environmental sustainability.
”It’s a joint venture with all the local fire, police, recreation, just giving back for three hours, showcasing our pool and also the services that are offered to the community,” Ms. Caines said.
In West Windsor, township police will host National Night Out at Community Park on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m.
The event is free and will include food, games, pony rides and inflatable bounce houses.
