Donations of school supplies sought

For many kids, back-to-school season is an exciting time filled with shopping for new clothing, notebooks, backpacks and more.

However, some families don’t have the funds to buy new clothes or school supplies. To help brighten the back-to-school experience for these families and make sure children have the supplies they need, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties in Eatontown is teaming up with Starbucks and other local businesses for its annual school supply drive.

The goal of the drive is to collect donations of new school supplies and financial support from residents, businesses and other organizations in order to fill backpacks for children in need. Donations of new supplies will be accepted throughAug. 10 in the Crystal Brook Professional Building, 174 Main Street, Eatontown, as well as the Starbucks stores at 2150 Route 35 in Sea Girt, 2303 Route 66 in Neptune, 2100 Route 35 in Oakhurst and 551 Route 35 in Shrewsbury.

Needed items include pens, pencils, markers, glue sticks, erasers, crayons, colored pencils, folders, binders, calculators and protractors. Financial donations, which will allow the committee to purchase necessary items, are also welcome.
