Filmmakers invited to enter festival

Kidz Filmz, a new film festival and joint venture between Algonquin Arts Theatre in Manasquan and the Garden State Film Festival, is seeking video submissions from the public.

The films will be presented at the Algonquin Arts Theatre from Jan. 27-29, 2012. Activities will also include a hands-on children’s workshop.

Filmmakers of all ages are encouraged to submit their work. Categories include: animation (short and feature length), documentaries (short and feature length), narratives (short and feature length), and music videos. The deadline for submission is Oct. 15.

The program’s mission is to provide educational enhancement as well as an outlet for creativity and enrichment through the presentation of films that are the finest in entertainment for children as well as by children.

When audiences attend the festival, they can expect films from local filmmakers and those from around the globe. This event serves to use the cinematic arts as a means of sharing information, broadening horizons, spotlighting creativity, and bringing cultural understanding in a festive environment, according to a press release.
