Mid’town police investigate hit & run

MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Township Police Department is investigating a pedestrian hit-and-run crash that occurred on Tuesday, July 19, at approximately 10 p.m. The crash occurred on Route 35 south between Navesink River Road and Coopers Bridge.

According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, a 26- year-old male from Red Bank, was walking near the intersection of Route 35 south and Lakeshore Drive when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. After striking the victim, the vehicle continued south on Route 35 into Red Bank, police said. The victim was treated at the scene and transferred to Jersey Shore Trauma Center for treatment, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
