WEST WINDSOR Rebecca Shi of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South recently placed first in the world in individual scores at the International Biology Olympiad in Taiwan recently.
Team USA also scored the highest overall points at the event, which consisted of 59 nations competing in practical assessments and theory examinations.
It was the first time a U.S. team member placed first in the world.
Team USA comprises the top four scoring students out of 20 finalists who participated in the USA Biology National Finals, which took place at Purdue University. Nearly 10,500 U.S. students registered.
