William Jeffers

Mr. Jeffers, 79, of Little Silver, and a longtime resident of Fair Haven, died July 17, 2011, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in Liverpool, England, and came to the United States in 1961. Mr. Jeffers first worked for the DuPont Co. as a research chemist in the Photo Products Division in Parlin. After 11 years with DuPont, he joined American Hoechst and retired in 1987 from his position as vice president and general manager of the Azoplate division. He holds numerous patents in the printing industry. In addition, working with a neighbor and close friend, Mr. Jeffers played a role in the development of one of the first electric barbecue grills. Surviving are his wife, Maureen; three children, Susan and son-in-law Nicholas Carter of Riverside, Conn., Mark and daughter-in-law Laurie Jeffers of Rumson, and Will and daughter in-law Laura Jeffers of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren; a brother, Albert and his wife, Helen, of Crosby, England; and several nieces and nephews in England. A memorial Mass was offered at Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. Memorial donations may be made to The Michael J.
