The Somerset Valley YMCA swim team (Team SVY) will be hosting their second annual “An Evening of Chance” casino night on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Three Bridges Fire House from 7-11 p.m.
The evening will feature black jack, craps, roulette, poker and a DJ as well as a buffet dinner, dessert, coffee and a cash bar. All “winnings” will then be converted into tickets to use at the basket auction ranging in values filled with items donated by Team SVY coaches, swimmers, their families and the local community businesses.
“Last year in support of our inaugural event, our local businesses, families and individuals donated more than $10,000 of goods and services. Everyone who attended the event had a great time and many are planning to bring friends this year,” commented Matt Donovan, Director of Competitive Aquatics. “Our parents work extremely hard throughout the season to support our efforts and this fun night out provides them an opportunity to meet other families that they wouldn’t normally have the chance to meet throughout the swim season. Additionally, it provides the local community with an opportunity to join in the fun and learn a little more about our competitive swim team program.” We’re looking forward to another great event,” remarked Donovan.
Tickets for this event are $65 per person and available to anybody 21 years of age and older. Guests who purchase tickets no later than Monday, September 12, 2011 will receive $100 in “casino play money” to use that evening. Guests who purchase tickets after September 12, 2011, will receive $50 in “casino play money.” Additional “casino play money” will be available for purchase at the event.
Team SVY won the 2006, 2010 and 2011 New Jersey State YMCA Championships. They provide the opportunity for more than 350 young athletes to train at the Somerset Valley YMCA facilities located in Bridgewater, Somerville and Hillsborough. Fundraising, donations and community support enable Team SVY to provide its swimmers with the opportunity to grow as individuals, achieve their goals as swimmers and teammates, and expand their potential in a nurturing, safe environment.
