The Master Gardeners of Mercer County will host their ninth annual Insect Festival on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Mercer Educational Gardens, 431A Federal City Road, Pennington, adjacent to the Mercer County Equestrian Center.
Join the Master Gardeners in a fun-filled afternoon of activities for all ages. Local naturalists and Master Gardeners will be on hand with insect-related displays and games in seven beautiful gardens. Learn all about bees (native and honey); watch worms produce compost; touch beneficial insects and see butterfly metamorphosis. Enjoy an insect puppet show, mural painting, bee dancing, hay rides on the Lawrence Hopewell Trail and — new this year — “Bugs in water.”
Mercer County Horticulturist Barbara J. Bromley will answer garden questions.
There’s free on-site parking.
The Master Gardeners of Mercer County is a volunteer educational outreach program of Rutgers Cooperative Extension.
