TINTON FALLS — Boy Scouts contribute to the well-being of local communities through projects like food drives, development of hiking trails and refurbishing historic landmarks, to name just a few examples. When it comes time for senior Scouts to select their final Eagle project, they select a project that will have a positive, lasting impact.
For his Eagle project, Tinton Falls Scout Robert Maber is helping to save lives through a blood donation drive.
“I’m asking people to please save the date and make an appointment so that we can maximize donations on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2-7 p.m. at the Tinton Falls Fire Company, 695 Tinton Ave.
According to Maber, of Boy Scout Troop 124 of Tinton Falls, if it is approved by the Tinton Falls Borough Council, the blood drive would become an annual effort of Troop 124.
Who can give? Blood donors must be healthy, weigh at least 120 pounds, and be at least 17 years old. Sixteen-year-olds can donate blood with parental consent. Consent forms are provided by the Central Jersey Blood Center. For a blood donation appointment, call Maber at 732-224-0748.
