Celebrate the history of the fall harvest

Experience the fall harvest as villagers did in the 1800s at the Historic Village at Allaire in Wall on Sept. 18.

The Fall Harvest Festival will feature apple games, puppet shows, storytelling, music and other 19th-century activities. Villagers will make cider with a cider press from the 1800s and cook on an open hearth. There will also be stovetop cooking in the Allaire Mansion. Admission to the four-hour event starting at 1 p.m. costs $3 per child and $5 per adult, with children under the age of 5 admitted free.

The historic village is the site where James P. Allaire ran his Howell Iron Works company in the 1830s. The village presents many educational and interpretive programs annually with funding from grants, private donations, membership fees, fundraising events and patronage of its retail stores.
