In this era of high unemployment, lower housing values, high taxes and the recent debt ceiling fiasco that resulted in a lower credit rating for the nation first for the time in history. In this era, why is it that Congress can only think to cut Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid benefits? We escaped the bullet this time, but it will be on the table again in the future.
I have never heard any proposals to cut anything from the huge amounts spent on welfare, illegal aliens and aid to foreign countries. I do not begrudge the spending to the above recipients, but as a struggling senior citizen living on a fixed income, I believe it’s only fair to be afforded the luxury of the same level of security that the other entitlement recipients have.
