Deaf cultural fest planned for Sept. 18

The annual Deaf Fest, featuring deaf cultural events, is planned for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Middlesex County Fairgrounds, Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. The event will be held in conjunction with New Jersey Deaf Awareness Week.

Exhibits will set up at 8 a.m., and the event will open at 10 a.m. Opening ceremonies at 10:45 a.m. will feature remarks by Darlene Sarnouski and event co-chairpersons Charlotte Karras and Lauren Lercher.

A memorial and opening of Bonnie’s Kiddie Korner is set for 11:45 a.m.-noon. A giant slide, bungee run, video games, “Sea of Balls” and more will be available noon- 3 p.m. Closing ceremonies will begin at 4 p.m.
