A s a Matawan resident, I feel compelled to extend my sincere gratitude for the volunteer services in Matawan. During the recent storm, our fire department members began to prepare and mobilize their efforts even before the storm began. They worked tirelessly throughout the night and well into the next day. They assisted with the evacuation of our residents, and pumped out innumerable homes in danger of electrical hazard in addition to the water rescues and answering hundreds of calls. Their services far exceeded the typical duties of volunteer citizens. We should all remember the sacrifice and dedication of our volunteers and their families.
