Police: Suspect in East Brunswick bank robbery nabbed at airport

EAST BRUNSWICK — Police have arrested a Brooklyn, N.Y., man in Monday’s robbery of the HSBC Bank at 289 Route 18.

According to police, Keith Colaciello, 38, is accused of robbing the bank at 1:20 p.m. and fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

East Brunswick patrol units arrived on the scene shortly after the call and were able to develop information that the suspect, later identified as Colaciello, was in a taxi and en route Newark Liberty International Airport via the New Jersey Turnpike.

Township police units began heading north on the Turnpike in an effort to locate the suspect.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police were notified and were able to take Colaciello into custody as he arrived at the airport, police said. He was turned over to the East Brunswick Police Department and returned to the township, where he was being charged with one count of bank robbery. Bail had not been set as of Tuesday morning.

Police said the incident is still under investigation.
